Fitness Friday: An Inspiration

April 15, 2011 at 3:36 pm Leave a comment

I am disappointed to report that I am discontinuing my Friday personal training sessions (for now). However, I do want to give a shout out to my fab trainer, Mathieu, for all the inspiration he provides. I’ll still be seeing him in the circuit training classes so I’ll get to stay up to date with him. He is training for a 100-mile trail race the first weekend in May. You read that right – 100 MILES or 160 kms. He also has plans for another 100 km race too. You can follow along on his journey here, My Training Blog – Mathieu Dore – I will be!

Running Rundown

Everything is posted in km. For those of you who only do miles, 1 km = .625 mile OR 1 mile = 1.6 km

Sunday – 15 km run – 2.5 km warm-up at  5:30/km(ish) pace; 10 km Minto Run for Reach at 4:55/km pace ; 2.5 km cool-down at 5:50/km pace

Tuesday – 14 km run, most with Elation Centre speed class. We warmed up for about 3 km, then 1 min x 3 fast with a minute active rest (slow run) in between, followed by 5 min x 3 fast with 5 min active rest between sets, then back to the 1 min x 3 with a min of active rest. We then did a cool-down back to the studio. The weather was fantastic. Everyone had a great time (it seemed).

Thursday –10.5 km run. 3 km warm-up at 5:40/km; 8 x (300-500 m) hills at fast pace (between 4:30 and 4:55/km) with equal distance active rest in between. 1 km cool-down. I did this in my neighborhood. All the streets are hills down towards the river – perfect.
